Opening week

What a wonderful opportunity to exhibit at Brenda May Gallery Danks St Sydney

Great night, great week all round with my newly married son Christopher Volpe and gorgeous bride Leah Volpe who flew out the next day to Rome Italy on their honeymoon.  

Thanks to some wonderful people who supported my art practice by buying my work & appreciating its value & to the many others who came & said hello & made it such a great show!!

Just unpacked my artworks from the framer... ooh la la... they look GOOD!!  

Photo-collage-paintings on these sexy modern aluminium mountings, thanks to the financial support of those fantastic people of the Windmill Trust Scholarship Encouragement Award.  

The works really sing, on Brenda May's white crisp walls.

Bird life on the Clarence Northern NSW

The bird life here on the Clarence really lightens my spirits.  The squabbles, the annoyingly beautiful Superb wren who keeps knocking his head against my window.  The boys might be more beautiful but what amount of brain do they have?

So I must draw and capture some of these experiences too.  In my photo collage some of these oil pastels are emerging to add an extra frisson to the photographic.

Good news comes in twos!!

A call from out of the blue from NAVA, right before I was about to get on the elevator at St. Vincent's Hospital Lismore.   

I was at the hospital for my mother, she was very ill at Christmas with cancer- the good news this day was that she was given the all clear for now from the good Dr. Curtin there!

Some wonderful news also came from the phone call!  The Windmill Trust Scholarship for Regional NSW Artists recognised my continuing efforts to develop my professional arts practice by giving me an Encouragement Award.  

This award will support the presentation of my work in the form of sexy modern frames for my solo show at Brenda May Gallery in October this year, 7th- 1st November.

Come to the opening Wed 8th.

SASSY Tea's

The tea towels are a playful take on the domestic chaos of our busy lives and the inspiration of living along the mighty Clarence River.  The drawings are from the series 'The Elements Within'

Joy of dance & sun

Collage drives new ideas for me across media. It's my approach visually & in the way I bring new textures & new elements together. It's experimental, playful.

Fun & different!! First tea towel off the rack!! More colours & another design in process.... Awash with domestic chaos as screen print... 

Linen colours oatmeal, off white & flax will come wrapped with label & card for presents...

Latest fun project is taking my drawings into print as hand made silk screen prints on Russian linen... Not only look fun but conceptually quite delightful too as the pics explore domestic chaos on this humble & convenient domestic fabric!  

Love Like Salt a stop motion animation

My raw and quirky animation that uses collage in approach and inspiration with musician Michael Dick who has made rather scrumptious abstract bass sounds...

The female form is collecting her treasures and the struggles to keep them.

Stanthorpe Art Prize Entry 2014

See what's under the kilt at the Scottish flavoured town nestled on the Clarence, called Maclean.  My exhibition at a gallery there called Kingstudio! 105 River Street, it looks onto the Clarence in a beautiful house, my work in one room & a mixture of owners works Malcolm & Julie & other locals in the other.
