Rochelle is celebrating the opening of her studio.  She is having a cut throat sale of her work too.  Lots of good bargains available ranging from $10 to $200 for unframed works.... As you can see from the pic she needs to sort out her housekeeping....

moving the press....

Richard removing press leg

I did have a lovely room in my home where  made my etchings.... but things change and the press had to be moved.  Richard's solution was to put wheels on the press.  What a great idea!!  He used a car jack to get to the legs and insert the wheels.  I can now move the press wherever I need it in my new studio.














I am now making the garage a studio and another pretty and functional space for my etchings.  It overlooks some bush and reserve at the back and has the potential to be a far bigger space and more professional.

solo show excitement

what a great place to have a solo show... Brunswick St Fitzroy at the BSG!!  Great vibrant street with good eats in Melbourne... We had a lovely meal at a French restaurant nearby.

New works

I have been tardy posting on my blog, but all in a good cause.  Several new drawings and photocollages ready for a solo show in Melbourne at the BSG gallery in Fitzroy.  Date of opening 5th of November.  Would dearly love some friends to be there. 

Delve into etching

Delve into etching is going to be held at Rochelle's home studio in Ocean Shores, for 6 sessions at 3hours a session on a tuesday night, from starting august 17th, 5.30-8.30pm, for $150 + $10 for sundries, you buy own paper and plate as needed, inks and studio facilities provided,  

Come along no experience necessary, work at your own pace, or pass on to anyone who might be interested,

My female protagonist is made from print matter.... things Ive found and bits I treasure....

Her mouth is the Mona Lisa smile.

suspense no longer, she is nestle

I just love to get the ideas out there... this is my drawing of my female protagonist hovering amongst the rambling rose undergrowth.  I am calling this work Nestle, and the etching is following this drawing.  I am currently working on a second plate to go with the rose etching plate.  

The drawings and etchings are part of a series of works where I am exploring the female form using photocollage.   In the etchings and drawings, the oval shape is taken from a mirror so that the viewer is looking through the looking glass....

secret pleasures

I lifted the beautiful art paper and saw the print for the first time....such a delicious secret pleasure....i wanted broody darks and moody atmosphere.... and got it!!!  I am now working on another plate to go with this and will keep you in suspense about its subject matter for now.....

skimming the surface

I actually did it... got up and was water skiing and felt like I was flying along the surface of the water..... what a blast... did have to hold on for grim death.... next time more sight seeing going to happen.... and cross wash... a definite adventure for my female protagonist to pursue....

pulling a print

Working on drawing and etching the photo collages too.  Have to give them a different look tho.... with etching going for the broody velvety darks of etching....  here is a pic of me pulling off the print at the press....

The works are large scale photographic prints about a female protagonist on a transformative journey of sensation, experience and change- in herself and her surroundings.
